First impressions
Billed as the world’s most advanced compact oven, the Gozney Pizza Oven makes an immediate impact with its design and functionality. From first impressions, it’s clear that this is an impressive piece of kit, both in build and performance.
What immediately stands out about the Gozney Pizza Oven is its sleek and stylish design. Compact and modern, it’s a real eye-catcher for any garden space, but don’t be fooled by its size – it has plenty of room inside, able to cook pizzas up to 16 inches. Perfect for family meals or impressing guests, it feels both practical and premium.
The build quality is exceptional, and while it’s on the pricier side, you can tell straight away that it’s built to last. It’s designed for outdoor use and runs on propane gas (sold separately), which makes it much easier to set up and maintain than a traditional wood-fired oven.
The oven really comes into its own when fired up. The lateral-flame is positioned at the side of the oven and mimics the flame of a wood-fired oven. It arcs across the roof of the oven ensuring even heat distribution. The side-positioning of the flame means there is more room to work with and makes it easier to turn the pizza. I found it ideal for creating that perfectly charred, authentic pizza crust with ease.
There is also a smaller option (Gozney Arc) available that cooks pizzas up to 14".

Ease of Use
Setting up the Gozney Pizza Oven is surprisingly straightforward. With a propane gas canister, it’s as simple as connecting the fuel and firing it up—within 30 minutes, it can reach impressive temperatures of up to 400°C, making it ready for action.
The oven has a built-in LED thermometer which made it incredibly easy for me to monitor the temperature at just a glance. This alongside the intuitive flame control made the oven incredibly easy use as well as precise. The flame control means you can confidently and easily experiment with a variety of pizza styles from a hot and fast Neapolitan to slow and steady Detroit. It's perfect for entertaining guest or simply experimenting with your pizza-making journey.
Another standout feature is the oven's heat retention. It can maintain temperatures as high as 500°C so you can cook multiple pizzas one after the other without waiting for the oven to reheat. Once you get the hang of using the pizza peel (which I assure you gets easier with practice) making the pizzas becomes a smooth and, ultimately, fun process.
Cooking results
The Arc XL heat distribution is even and consistent resulting in restaurant-quality pizzas every time.
The ideal oven temperature should be between 450-500°C to cook a pizza to perfection. These high temperatures are ideal for recreating a restaurant-quality Neapolitan style pizza at home. When cooking a New York-style or Detroit style pizza, however, you’ll need to bring the oven temperature down a little, to a toasty 350°C.
We opted to make a Neapolitan-style pizzas, cooking at around 450°C, and the results were incredible. Having tried authentic Neapolitan pizzas in Naples a few years back, I was blown away at being able to recreate a similar pizza in my own back garden. The crust was perfectly puffed, with the signature charred spots you’d expect from a traditional wood-fired oven. The base was thin and soft, with just the right amount of chew and the toppings bubbled and caramelized to perfection.
It’s essential to keep a close eye on your pizza throughout the cooking process, as the oven’s extremely high temperatures and fast cooking speed mean it can go from perfect to burnt in a matter of seconds.
Sustainability
When it comes to sustainability, the Gozney Arc XL has some features worth mentioning. While it uses propane as fuel it’s a cleaner-burning option compared to wood or charcoal. Propane produces fewer particulates and emissions, making it a more environmentally friendly choice for air quality, even if it’s not renewable.
The packaging is another plus. The oven comes in recyclable cardboard boxes, which is always appreciated for reducing waste and promoting a more eco-conscious approach.
With its high-quality build, the Gozney Arc XL is designed to last, which means fewer replacements and less waste over time.
