Combine the Japanese principle of wabi-sabi – embracing the beauty and imperfections of nature – with Scandinavian hygge, which is all about cosiness and comfort, to bring the benefits of minimalism and an appreciation of the natural world to your bathroom.

Introduce this soothing concept with soft textures, earthy hues and materials such as rattan and bamboo to create a harmonious haven. We’ve chosen a lighter colour palette to keep the scheme fresh for summer, but the Japandi look also works with black accessories or dark tiles to dial up the drama.

Japandi interiors are underpinned by soft, neutral colour schemes, chosen to promote tranquillity. Think off-white tones, soft greys and blush colours, which all add a sense of serenity to a space. If you want a splash of colour, opt for blue or green shades, while pale yellow adds warmth.
