Make sure your lighting is the best-dressed, with glamorous velvet and tassel trim.

You will need:

  • Drum lampshade
  • Velvet fabric
  • Fringe trimming
  • Iron
  • Tape measure
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun

Step 1

Measure and cut a length of velvet fabric to cover the surface of the shade, with a 1.5cm allowance on each side. Fold 0.5cm in on each side and press with an iron.

Step 2

Lay the fabric face-down on your work surface and place the shade on top. Using a glue gun, apply glue to the top edge of the inside of the shade and start sticking the fabric in place.

Step 3

Continue working around the shade, then repeat around the bottom of the shade, making sure the fabric is taut and wrinkle-free.

Step 4

Measure and cut a length of fringe trim. Carefully glue around the inside edge of the bottom of the shade, to finish.
