MasterClass non-stick aluminium roasting pan 34cm in Black, Dunelm
Best for families
SQUIRREL_TEXT_13163988
This roasting pan is lightweight enough to make it easy to use, as it’s made from cast aluminium, but also has a good-quality robustness to it that means it won’t get easily dented or bent when stacked in a drawer with other pots and pans.
It can be used both on the hob (including induction) and in the oven, so it’s a versatile pan for a variety of meals, and it has a large capacity – on test, it easily fit a half chicken plus potatoes, carrots and parsnips.
Everything was cooked through evenly and nothing stuck to the pan, which made it really easy to clean afterwards, especially as it’s dishwasher safe.
Overall, this pan’s large capacity, reliability and hob-to-oven capability makes it a great staple for a variety of family dinners, but it is on the pricier side, which is the only negative.

Large cast aluminium roaster in Dark Green, M&S
Best for: oven-to-table
Buy the large cast aluminium roaster in Dark Green from M&S
Usually, with roasters, you have to sacrifice looks if you want a top-quality cook, but not with this design from M&S, available in four classic colours. The aluminium material is lightweight and delivers a great roast while having a stylish finish, and this green is nice and festive too!
The non-stick surface is faultless – I cooked leeks and carrots under a chicken, and the veg came away easily, beautifully caramelised, and with no residue. It has a stainless-steel ring on the base, which gives fantastic conductivity on any hob, so gravy-making is easy.
It may not be wide enough for a large Christmas turkey – it measures 34x24x8cm – but it’s perfect for your trimmings, or a smaller roast. After testing with roasties and a chicken, I popped it in the dishwasher each time. There were a few water marks, but they came off with a quick wipe. It’s become my go-to roaster.

Argos Home non-stick steel roasters set, Argos
Best budget buy
SQUIRREL_TEXT_13163990
Though the price had me sceptical of how these would fare, I was pleasantly surprised. The large tray measures 38x30x5cm and the small measures 28x22x4cm, which offers you plenty of space to cook a main and sides, and they are super light with slight indents to use as handles.
As they have a Teflon non-stick coating and are oven-safe to 230ºC, we used these trays to roast stuffing and pigs in blankets without any oil and I’m happy to say neither stuck. In fact, I didn’t even need to use tongs to flip them over, just could shake the roasters and everything moved.
Afterwards, we popped them in the dishwasher, and they came out completely clean. I really liked these trays, especially for the price, but as a two-pack, it feels like one’s quite big and the other quite small; I think an in-between size would still be needed for cooking for the family.

Foodi ZEROSTICK 23cm x 33cm roasting tin, Ninja
Best for quality
SQUIRREL_TEXT_13163991
You get what you expect from the Ninja brand – the ZEROSTICK roasting tin was exactly what I got, literally nothing sticks to it! I cooked a full roast, including all the trimmings and nothing stuck. It was so easy to clean – I wiped everything off with no effort – and it is dishwasher safe too.
The tin feels good quality, but not heavy either and it’s oven safe up to 260ºC. It’s a good size, which fits a standard oven, and what I liked was it had a wide rim at both ends making it feel easier to hold while hot. It is not the cheapest but worth investing as it will last you for years.
This is my favourite roasting tin now, and it comes with a 10-year replacement guarantee.

Heavy gauge non-stick roaster, 32cm, Dunelm
Best for reliability
SQUIRREL_TEXT_13163992
This is a great buy for £8! The trivet, though shallow, allows enough space for the juices to flow, and it is compatible with an induction hob too, so I could make gravy directly in the roaster (however here, the trivet is a little disadvantageous, as the uneven surface doesn’t give great contact with the hob).
It has a weight to it, but it’s not overly heavy – I could easily move it with one hand while it had the roasting joint in it – thanks especially to the wide lip it has on two sides. The non-stick surface worked beautifully, and it came out of the dishwasher clean, but in need of a wipe down, as it was covered in a lot of residue marks.
At 32cm long (35cm including handle), you could fit a small turkey or chicken in, but you’d need something larger for a bigger dinner.

Mini griddle pan in Spice, Our Place
Best look
Buy the mini griddle pan in Spice from Our Place
This pan is in a gorgeous, peachy colour and feels of very good quality. It’s made from aluminium and has a 1.9L capacity. It has a nice weight to it, but, thanks to the handles, it is easy to carry – you will need oven gloves once these handles are hot though!
Although it is the mini size – it measures 29cmL x 21.8W x 3.2D – I found it very useful for cooking traybake meals as well as side dishes. In terms of the non-stick, I’ve never had any issues. I’ve cooked meat and veg in this, neither have sticked. It can be used in oven cooking up to 230ºC, plus on the hob as a pan, which is always useful to save on washing up.
This pan is hand wash only though to preserve the non-stick, but this wasn’t arduous at all. Even when I roasted parsnips with spices and honey, the glaze slipped off before I tried to wash it and took seconds to wipe over with a sponge and washing up liquid.
Overall, the pan is style and substance, which for the money was vital, but when using it I feel I must be careful because of the price and to look after it properly.

Non-Stick Granite Roasting Tin, ProCook
Best for a roast dinner
SQUIRREL_TEXT_13163994
This generously sized roasting tin is great for families and perfect for a Sunday roast! We easily fit roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots in all at the same time, and the food cooked evenly and did not stick. The tin feels very sturdy and is made from heavy gauge carbon steel and is not too heavy to handle.
It has a smooth high gloss surface and a great depth for shaking your food during cooking, the food just slid around – no sticking in sight! Because of the high gloss surface, cleaning the tin was very easy and although it is dishwasher safe, the non-stick feature was so good, washing in the sink did the job perfectly.
Overall, we think this tin is brilliant, but it doesn’t have a handle or a lip to grab onto nor is it hob safe for transferring from hob to oven.

Marblestone 36cm roasting pan, Salter
Best for versatility
SQUIRREL_TEXT_13163997
This deep-sided roasting pan is lightweight, non-stick and PFOA-free – making it a safe and healthy choice. Made from durable carbon steel, it’s oven-safe up to 220°C (gas mark 7) and its smooth, high-sided design makes it ideal for lasagnes and casseroles, as well as roasting meats and veggies. Measuring 36cmLx24cmWx5.5cmH, it’s big enough to roast an extra-large chicken or enough roasties to serve 6-8.
I tested this tin with roasted meats, veggies, oven chips, a selection of freezer foods and a lasagne, and was very pleased with the cooking results. The non-stick coating was excellent: none of the roasted meats, veg or ‘freezer foods’ stuck at all, and any bits of baked-on lasagne wiped straight off with a dunk in hot soapy water – this pan is handwash only. As a result, this roasting pan is now one of my staple pieces of ovenware.
At £14.99 (RRP) with a 5-year guarantee, I think this roaster is excellent value for money.

Performance Neverstick+ 35cm roasting tray, Scoville
Best for sturdiness
SQUIRREL_TEXT_13163999
This rectangular non-stick roasting tray is ideal for roasting meats and vegetables and has deep sides so no liquid spillages. Straightaway, we noticed the sturdiness and quality of the tin was excellent. It has a rough non-stick coating compared to a smooth surface, which didn’t affect the quality of the non-stick at all.
It is compatible with all ovens and safe up to 260ºC, but unfortunately not suitable for hob use. It is also dishwasher safe, but handwashing is recommended to protect the coating from scratches. I wasn’t as easy to clean with its rougher surface but after a little soak if cleaned up perfectly by hand.
Being PFOA-free and resistant to flaking and peeling it ensures a safer and healthier cooking experience. The tin doesn’t have a handle or a lip to handle it easily in and out of the oven, which was a downside.

The winner: Standard roasting tin with pouring lip, Lakeland
Best on test
SQUIRREL_TEXT_13164000
This roasting tin comes with lots of excellent features including a double layer of non-stick coating, deep sides, a raised and textured base that allows fat to drain during cooking, plus a corner ‘nose’ and easy-grip handles that make pouring cooking juices into the gravy pan a breeze.
Measuring 39x22.5x8.5cm, this carbon steel tin is lightweight, while still feeling robust, and is plenty big enough to roast a 2-2.5kg turkey to serve 6-8. It’s oven safe up to temperatures of 240ºC. I put this tin through its paces roasting a family-sized chicken, pork joint, spuds and a variety of veg, as well as to cook oven chips, pies, chicken dippers and more and its performance was faultless.
Perfectly cooked food, no sticking and no soggy bottoms! While the tin is officially dishwasher safe, it’s pretty big to fit into a dishwasher and handwashing is recommended to preserve the non-stick coating. I found it quick and easy to wash up as nothing was stuck to the bottom at all. Priced at £14.99 with a 3-year guarantee, I think it’s also good value for money.
